Blu-ray Bob's Top Ten of 2016

A note from Adam - I have a dear friend that we affectionately call "Blu-ray Bob." He earned this nickname because two years ago he brought over his pristine and brand new copy of John Wick for us to watch... on DVD. Yes, in the year 2015, my friend Bob is still buying movies on DVD and arguing against the merits of Blu-rays and other hi-def options, but I'll leave that discussion for another time. He earned his ironic moniker and it has stuck to this day.

Bob is a loving husband and father to two young boys. He's doing his best to introduce them to what is best in life - superheroes, video games, Star Wars, etc. If you asked Bob what his favorite movie is, he would probably tell you that it is Predator. In fact, I am willing to bet that he cannot wait to show Predator to his two boys and it'll be completely his fault when they can't sleep at night for fear of an alien hunter lurking in their closets.

Bob loves action, whether it is sublime or whether it is loud and dumb. Because of Bob, I've recently sat through Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil: The (not so) Final Chapter. Even as I write up this article, Bob is ridiculing me by text message and telling me how much he thinks The Witch sucks, which is a film I'm very fond of and that I placed in my Top Ten. I believe that a lot of us have friends like Bob and that's why I asked him to put together his Top Ten Films of 2016 because I was genuinely curious about what films he would list. So, without further ado, I present Blu-ray Bob's Top Ten Films of 2016.

10. 13 Hours

9. Deadpool

8. Zootopia

7. 10 Cloverfield Lane

6. Doctor Strange

5. Sully

4. The Accountant

3. The Magnificent 7

2. Rogue One

1. The Nice Guys

I'm impressed by his list and I'm glad to see that The Nice Guys finished at the top. The list is action-heavy, as expected, but some solid picks throughout. There's not a bad movie in the list. Well done Bob.
