Local Buzz - Columbus, Time to Get Your Cult Film Education
The Gateway Film Center (GFC) in Columbus, Ohio, has created a truly impressive lineup of cult films for locals to see. Together with a panel of film experts from around the country, the GFC has identified the best 101 cult films of all time. They haven't just given us a list though, they are actually going to play ALL of these movies in 2017. As a local fan and supporter of the GFC, I have to point out that this isn't some national programming event that they are just participating in, this is a prime example of the kind of film programming that they routinely do for us. We are truly spoiled to have such a kick-ass theater in the heart of our city.
January is already almost in the books, so here is the awesome lineup for Cult 101 in February.

This is a killer lineup of great movies. Evil Dead is one of my favorite movies of all time and I love Princess Bride and Reservoir Dogs almost as much. Twin Peaks is coming back with new episodes in May and what better way to great ready for the rebirth of that series than by checking out the showing on Feb 28 which also features a live podcast recording and a documentary. I have never seen Irma Vep, so I will need to correct that and grab a ticket for one of the showings this week. Thanks to Cult 101, I'll be filling in some more gaps of my cult film education.
So if you are local to Columbus, or even within reasonable driving distance, this is a great film series to check out. If you've never been to The Gateway Film Center, this is as good excuse as any to go check it out. They are a non-profit organization which also happens to be one of the top Art House theaters in the country and home to the Nightmares Film Festival (which you will be hearing a lot more about from me as we approach October). I'll post the schedule for their March Cult 101 lineup as we reach the end of February.
