Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.

Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) is fun if not silly ride through the adventures of video game hero Lara Croft. When the video game Tomb Raider was first release it was during the misogynistic 90's when a female action hero was drawn to look more like a caricature than a real woman.

Thank goodness we have made strides since then and even the most recent video games and this movie de-emphasizes a heightened sexuality for a heroin that young girls today can look up to.

Overall Tomb Raider is a fun, big budget action movie that requires you to leave your brain at the door. If you can do this, it will be worth your time.
